Career Growth

The ESOP is a unique opportunity to share in the ownership of our company with all the people I work with. Together, we can each impact the value of our company and make it stronger. In these difficult economic times, as the value of retirement accounts decline almost everywhere, I am especially grateful for our ESOP. While outside forces will still affect our ESOP, and our stock values may go up and down over time, I at least know the hard work and dedication of all of the people I work with also will affect our value in a positive way. We truly are “Building Value Together”.
In short, Tharaldson is the company I was truly “meant” to work for, even if I didn’t realize it when I started. I began my career with our company in 1986 as a night auditor at the Econo Lodge in Fargo. As time progressed, I worked the 7-3 shift until I was promoted to Assistant General Manager. In 1988 I was promoted to General Manager of both the Comfort Inn and Econo Lodge in Fargo. In late 1989, I was promoted to Area Director in Illinois. The next few years were busy, as we built and opened hotel after hotel. In 1992 I was promoted to Regional Vice President for the Midwest. In 1995 I was transferred to my current region of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma and North Texas. Over the past 23 Years, I have had the opportunity to be a part of our companies’ incredible growth, and to work with nearly 100 different hotels and their teams. “The ESOP gives me a sense of pride and ownership. Knowing every day I come to work, I feel like this is my house and I want to take care of it. I’ve been with Tharaldson for over 10 years. I started in Longview as a Night Auditor and transferred to Fort Worth as Night Auditor, before being promoted to AGM. Tharaldson has a unique management style, great corporate support system and they take pride in their employees. And the ESOP is a great incentive tool for long term results.”

“With ESOP, we take ownership in our company. As an employee of Tharaldson, I look at it as a savings account at no cost to us, while in turn will help subsidize my retirement. I started as a GM in Findlay approximately 15 years ago with a hospitality background. In the past, I’ve helped open several hotels and have also been a Training Hotel. What sets Tharaldson above the rest, is that we take pride in our guest’s satisfaction and putting them first.”

“ESOP is Tharaldson showing they care about their employees, making Tharaldson a company of owners who work hard to increase the value of their company. I’ve been with Tharaldson for four years and I started right out of college at the front desk. Within two months I enrolled in the STEP Program (Management Training) and was soon offered the AGM position at the Peoria Courtyard. After 2 1/2 years I was promoted to General Manager of this property.”
